21 Days of Prayer - Day #17 August 24, 2021 Focus - Pray Continually
We want to continue to be people of prayer beyond the 21 days that we are focused on.
The scripture is full of prayer teaching passages. So here is today’s passage.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Pray Continually - or perhaps simply - Pray all the time.
People try to figure out God’s will for their lives. Well one thing we know for today, it is God’s will to be joyful, thankful and prayerful.
Prayer is an important lifestyle. One person said, “prayer is the realization of a great relationship between believers and God the Father.”
So we pray all the time. Prayer is simply talking to God - continually. It is the “secret sauce” of our churches, of marriage, of parenting. Continually talking / communicating.
21 Days of Prayer is an effective tool for this. 21 Days of prayer is not the fire of our spiritual life; rather, it ignites the fire of our spiritual passions and growth.
John 15:15-16 (NIV)
15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
We are called Jesus’ friends.
I talk to my friends all the time and that is the way it should be with Jesus. We can talk with Jesus - we can ask Him anything because He’s not some distant person, He is our Savior, Lord and friend.
Let’s then pray continually. Let’s talk to God all the time. Praying all the time should be our standard - our new normal.
