S.O.A.P. 28 Day Challenge - Day #6, "Don't Spin Your Wheels"

S. Acts 13:46-51 (NIV)

46 Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. 47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us:

“‘I have made you[a] a light for the Gentiles,
that you[b] may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’[c]”

48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

49 The word of the Lord spread through the whole region. 50 But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. 51 So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium.

O. Paul and Barnabas tried to reach their fellow Jewish brothers and sisters for Jesus, but many of them would not listen. In fact, some of them opposed them and followed them, stirring up problems. This did not deter Paul or Barnabas. They continued! They knew their calling. The would not “spin their wheels” (aka they shook the dust from their feet) and would continue to proclaim Christ to those who would receive the message.

A. Sometimes I think that we (I know I do) have certain people in mind that should hear a certain message I am going to preach or that they are “prime” to receive the Gospel of Jesus. However after a while of their “rejection of the message or person of Jesus,” I need to move on and share Christ where there is “fertile soil”., i.e., hearts and minds that do wish to hear and learn more. So I will move forward as the Lord leads me and will not “spin my wheels” with those who have no interest. Perhaps in time, their receptivity will tune in better to possibly another time or another person’s message.

P. Thank you Father for your call in my life to preach the Gospel of Jesus and to teach your Word. Lord Jesus help me to not “spin my wheels” with those who have no interest. Instead help me to effectively minister to those who will listen. Holy Spirit fill me and guide me to be faithful and fruitful in sharing God’s Word. In Jesus’ name!
