God's Awesome Glory is in the Wilderness

Exodus 16:10 "And as Aaron spoke to the whole community of Israel, they looked out toward the wilderness. There they could see the awesome glory of the Lord in the cloud."

Israel had complained when opposition hit and they looked to their past with regret (oh, why didn't we stay in Israel when we could eat leaks, onion and garlic.") Their pathway to the promise land was a wilderness. But it says, as they looked out in the wilderness they could see the awesome glory of God.

I know that my initial (maybe yours too) reaction at opposition or resistance in living for Jesus is to look at my past and regret decisions I've made. Yet if I will look ahead at the pathway that God has for me, then I will likely see God's awesome glory.... and know with re-assurance that He is leading me there.

Father, thank you for the past and for how you have provided for me. Forgive me when I have regret and second guess you. I am here and looking ahead toward you and your awesome glory, knowing you will be leading and providing.

Heaven Is Fighting For You - 2 Kings 6:17-18

Day 13, January 15, 2016

2 Kings 6

The king of Syria declares war against the people of Israel. They’re in the war room planning. They change their course, and go after Elisha because every time they tried to attack Israel, Elisha hears about it.. let’s the King of Israel know, and Israel wins.  The King of Syria says “who istelling our secrets?”  Elisha is identified so this King is ready to take out Elisha.

The King of Syria and his army surrounds Elisha and his servant. The servant sees the multitude and sees no hope.. no light at the end of the tunnel.

Elisha’s response is Don’t be afraid.

Verse 16
16 “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!”

21Days of prayer helps us to finish strong.

No matter what you and I have going on.. there are more fighting for us than against us. We have more resources for us than against us. Heaven is fighting for you and me today. There is hope. Your marriage can survivie. You can get out of debt.  There’s hope. Heaven is fighting for you.

Sometimes you just need to see it.

Verse 17
17 Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

Let’s pray today that things are not as bad as you think, if you’ll let the Lord open your eyes. Your problems are not bigger than our God.

Let’s pray today that we will see things as God sees them. There are more on heaven’s side than the enemy. We have the resources for victory today. So Lord, Open our eyes today.  In Jesus name!

Keep it Simple - January 8, 2016

Jeremiah 29    --- Keeping it simple

Don’t let these days of 21 days of prayer and fasting get over complicated.

A key to enjoy this.. is to keep it simple.

We don’t completely understand how God does it.. how He handles all the prayers.. how He handles the miracles..

A man with the experience is never at the mercy of a man with the argument.

P.T.L.

Pray, Trust, Live

Jeremiah 29:12-13

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Pray - Let’s pray because God is listening. We don’t need to know how it all works.. just know this.. God is listening.  It’s just that simple. God is in heaven, waiting and listening.

Trust – we need to trust because God is good. V. 11

These are the plans God has for your life. He has good plans. He’s in heaven and he’s listening and ready to direct you to the plans He has for you.

Live – because the world is watching. People all around us watch us. We are so blessed to be a part of what God is doing. Yet the world watches us.

This Jeremiah 29 promise was given while Israel was in captivity. Jeremiah 29:5-7.. this process took 70 years for them to realize the answered prayer of God’s purpose.

5 “Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. 6 Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease. 7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to theLord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

That space of living it out while we wait. He’s listening to us, we know He’s good and we live this out before other people.

So let’s P.T.L for these 21 days.
