21 Days of Prayer - Day #4 Focus: "Revival"

Today we are praying for revival! The word revival means "making alive again.”

Our scripture passage is from Isaiah 64:1-3 (NIV) “Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down,
that the mountains would tremble before you! 2 As when fire sets twigs ablaze and causes water to boil,
come down to make your name known to your enemies and cause the nations to quake before you!
3 For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you”

How to have revival? It begins in each one of us. Perhaps this thought, “When a HUNGER for God meets a HUMBLE heart and the result is a HARVEST (miracles and souls).

So I ask God to send it (revival)down. God understands sending or coming down. He came down in the form of flesh (Incarnation, Jesus, Emmanual John 1:14). God loves to come down to be with His people.

Revival starts with me - in my heart and life and moves out from there.

So let’s pray that God will come down in my life, my marriage, my family, my kids, my community, my church, my state and my country. So let’s pray that we can be a one person revival. It starts in me (us) and makes a difference in the world.

Whenever God comes down, things happen.

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV).

Lord, come down and bring revival in every area of my life.

21 Days of Prayer - Day #3 Focus: "The Prayer of Jabez"

Day 3, August 10, 2021

Prayer of Jabez - 1 Chronicles 4:10 (NIV)

10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

Jabez stands out in the genealogy of 1 Chronicles with this powerful prayer and person.

Generation after generation people did their own thing. However this one stands out and deserves our attention in this one verse.

Blessing

The opening statement “oh that you would bless me.”  For some that might seem to be a selfish prayer for those that already feel blessed.  But those are just our feelings and miss the Biblical meaning of blessing.

It’s really just a prayer for reassurance. It’s not for material provision, or permission, but a blessing. A yes, a reassurance for a covering to be a part of God’s family. A blessing is deep and hard to explain, but it’s God saying “yes” to us.

Let’s go after God’s blessing. Let’s go after God’s covering. Let us seek God by submitting to God. It’s a prayer of submitting to God. A prayer of needing God.  A prayer that seeks God’s blessing that we might be a blessing to others.

It’s a desperation of how much we need God. That he would increase our area of influence and that he would protect us.  A prayer of blessing, influence, presence and protection.

21 Days of Prayer - Day #2 Focus: "The Lord's Prayer"

Day 2, August 9, 2021

Today’s Focus:    The Lord’s Prayer

Luke 11:1-2 (NLT)

Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

2 Jesus said, “This is how you should pray:[a]

“Father, may your name be kept holy.

    May your Kingdom come soon.

There is a place where we meet God. Jesus went to a “certain” place. He had a specific plan and place to meet with the Father.  I think it’s good then for us to have a certain place each day where we are not disturbed or interrupted and we can meet with God our Father.  Once we have that place, we then focus on our prayerful content.

Matthew 6:9-13 (NKJV)

9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven,Hallowed be Your name.

10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts,

As we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one. [a]For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

The first thing to know is that God our Father is for us. He wants to favor us. God is for you. Jesus has taken away our guilt. God is our Father and He is FOR us.

Hallowed or Holy is your name! We declare and worship the names of God.

God loves when we worship Him, and there is power in

His name. Here is a list of some of His names to help us

worship Him specifically and personally:

God is Righteousness – He makes us clean

God is Sanctifier – He has called us and set us apart

God is Healer – He heals all our diseases

God is Banner of Victory – He defeated our enemies

God is Shepherd – He speaks to us and leads us

God is Peace – He is our peace in every storm

God is Provider – He supplies all of our needs

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

PROVERBS 18:10 ESV

Your Kingdom come your will be done. This is praying God’s agenda first and not ours.  If God had a physical prayer list (like we might use), praying for those that are lost are at the top of His list.

Give us this day our daily bread. Now we ask God for provision. We pray that God will provide for our needs, physically, spiritually, emotionally, relationally, etc.

Forgive us our debts as we have forgiven debtors. We ask God to forgive us and we forgive others.  God desires to bless us but cannot if we have sin in our life; so we are to confess that to God and experience the forgiveness that we receive through Jesus (1 John 1:9); and we then forgive others.

Lead us not into temptation.  We are reminded that there is spiritual warfare. WE bind and loose. We bind anger and loose the peace of God. This is warfare. We ask God to lead us in this.

“For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.”

God is more than able to move in every situation, and ending our prayer time claiming His authority and power focuses our minds on the truth and hope of who He is and what He can do.

Ah, Sovereign LORD, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for You.  JEREMIAH 32:17

So today, let’s kick off our 21 days of prayer devotional time by worshipping and praying the Lord’s prayer.
